My love of Art has always been constant, but the methods of its expression have changed from decade to decade.
As a child in West Africa, I was able to see and admire a lot of Tribal art. Primitive Art is still some of my favorite, and it has continued to influence my art style.
I became a quilter, taking classes at the Adult Schools around LA. , and then started doing stained glass and mosaics. During this period (the 90s) I was the Art teacher for many years at the
private school that my sons attended. I had a blast, introducing young people to different Art forms: wood burning, papier mache, mosaic, ceramics, hand quilting and crotchet, etc.
Since then, my radar has shifted a bit; I learned about fused glass, and fell in love with it. So my Art forms in the present are mostly fused glass and mosaics, which go together very well.
What inspires me? Above all, color! I love color, texture, and movement of forms. Primitive art remains a favorite, and I love viewing Art and talking to artists.
A few years back, I taught a class in fused glass to children at a local private school, and it made me remember how much fun it was to teach. Since then, I have given private lessons to friends (children, teens and adults) in mosaics and fused glass.
I have also taken classes from well-known mosaic artists like Laurel Skye, and Mireille Swinnen. From them I learned different styles of mosaics, using different materials.
Gayane Minasyan (Uolanta) was born in USSR and moved to the USA when she was 10 years old. Growing up, Gayane never faced a question of who she would like to become as an adult. Being in a family of fourth generation doctors, her parents saw her future as a doctor, who would eventually take over a family practice. Gayane’s family constantly traveled. She says, in her own words, “I don’t remember a time, in my childhood, when my suitcase wasn’t packed with my toys and clothes.”
Seeking a better future for their children, her parents moved to Hollywood, California in 1996.
As an artist, Gayane is always looking for new inspirations. She expresses, "My inspiration comes while working.” Gayane’s goal is to show conventional life, through the eye of the artist, whether it is a portrait, place, or objects. Her current work of mixed media shows colors and textures that change mundane life to the values and hues of an artist.
Gayane’s technique consists of mixing two or more mediums, such as watercolor and pastel, or
acrylic and pastel, to achieve desired texture and patterns in order to bring values to the surface. She is currently working with different surfaces to enhance her work.
Currently, Gayane is a graduate of the Art Academy University of San Francisco and is living and working in Los Angeles, California.

Rochelle Neimerow teaches sculpting to adults and children for all levels of proficiency. She teaches great sculpting classes which involve basic anatomy and three dimensional sculpting using Paper Clay, a no energy clay, non-toxic with easy clean up and paintable with any medium. Without the necessity of firing or foundering, students are able to take home a finished or progress sculpture every class session. Rochelle enjoys teaching people an art skill that resides latent inside them.
"I make my classes fun, I pace for the level of skill and experience in each class. I love seeing each piece come to life in the hands of each student and their excitement over having created a finished work." -Rochelle Neimerow
I've always loved the look of watercolor - how the colors flow beautifully into one another, such a soft yet strong impact that no other art medium can achieve. I bought myself a set of watercolor paints one day with no idea on what I'd paint or even HOW to paint in watercolor, but I quickly learned that there was so much that you can do with this beautiful medium. I discovered that I loved to paint portraits, especially pet portraits. I love using color and watercolor really combines, flows, and mixes into the most
beautiful color combinations. I also love to paint fashion paintings, thanks in part to my education at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.

I look forward to sharing my passion of painting and watercolor with you!

"I stayed in the lines of my coloring books till I was ten years old. My life as a visual artist began at that time when I broke my arm. The cast kept me from swimming and riding my bicycle that Summer, so I began drawing. Despite the fact that I had to use my left hand, drawing gave me extreme pleasure and I felt a sense of accomplishment in my ability to do well with it.
Years later, my passion for drawing (and clothing!) grew into an eighteen-year career in fashion design, followed by a new-found love of teaching art, which I continue today and will always continue. As a fan of music and dance, I am currently working on a series of paintings that bring together many of my passions for song, movement, color, theatre, and story.
